QA Technician - Portsmouth, NH

Job Description
Craft Brewers Alliance, Inc. has an immediate opening at the Redhook Ale Brewery in Portsmouth, NH for a QA Technician. Reporting to the QA Manager, the QA Technician will conduct routine analysis from incoming raw material to packaged product. Collect samples and perform microbial analysis using aseptic technique. Sample and test finished and unprocessed beer.

Specific duties include: • Perform necessary quality assurance testing. (e.g. beer chemistry, microbiology, packaging) • Identify problem areas and contribute to the problem solving process. • Maintain the lab in a neat and orderly condition and ensure a sufficient supply of consumable materials. • Participate in ongoing product and process development efforts. • Run routine chemical analyses on beer in process. • Sample collection including aseptic sampling for microbiological testing. • A willingness to learn and become part of a small team. • Be a team player focused on meeting production, quality, and safety goals. • Perform project work as needed. • Ability to work and communicate with all levels of Production personnel. • Willing to work in a Production facility and collect samples throughout the process. • Arrange & conduct weekly beer quality assessment sensory panel. • Identify solutions to QA problems, • Participation in product development efforts • Ensure quality goals met. • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Position Requirements:
Education: College degree in chemistry, biology or food science preferred. Minimum college level chemistry courses required. College level microbiology a plus.
Experience: • 2-3 years microbiology lab exp in industrial setting • Exceptional analysis, organization & problem solving skills, • Ability to communicate results clearly & in timely manner, • Attention to detail, • Self motivated • Applicants with package quality and/or sensory experience a plus. • Familiar with laboratory instrumentation. • Experienced with Microsoft Word and Excel. • Understanding of the brewing process a plus. • Excellent communication skills.
